This year's blockbuster "Avatar: The Way of Water" has earned a lot of praise. These reviews mainly focus on the visual spectacle of the film. Indeed, the scenes of this film are phenomenal, far ahead of all Hollywood blockbusters this year. After watching the film for 3 hours, I admit all the advantages of the film. However, there’s no getting around the fact that “Way of Water’s” dramatic foundation is leaky. Then again, you’re not supposed to notice that. James Cameron provides distractions aplenty.

From the perspective of the screenwriter, I found at least 5 details in the film that do not make sense.
1. Jake Sully's motivation to leave the forest.
When new enemies arrive and the whole forest is under attack, Jake Sully, the legendary hero who led the Na'vi to fight against human beings in the last episode, thinks that his departure can stop the war. More like an ostrich with its head in the sand. If we don’t see it it is not happening.

2. There are too many children on the stage which distract the audience.
Let's count the children who play a large part in the drama.
Jake Sully's family has two brothers and a sister. There are three here.
Dr. Grace Augustine, who died in the last episode, gives birth to a daughter, Kiri.
The son of the villain in the last episode, Spider.
The son and daughter of the leader of the reef people.
Adding them together, there are already seven characters. From the perspective of the script, the roles of them in the script are repeated, so it is unnecessary to create so many characters. Some of them can be reduced or merged. As a result, although the elder brother of the Jake Sully family died tragically in the end, the first half of the film did not spend much time to make the audience like him, so his death was with limited tension.

3. The motive of the villain, Colonel Quaritch.
Quaritch is the villain in the movie. He is very ferocious and wants to kill the whole of Jake Sully's family. But why does he want to do that? The film only emphasizes his ferocity but did not fully explain his motives. Jake exiles himself from the beginning. Shouldn't Quartic’s mission be fighting against the forest tribe? Why must he go to the island and try to catch Corporal Jake? In the end, the conflict between two planets and two civilizations has become a private feud.

4. Emotional transition between Spider and Quaritch.
As for the character of Spider, his relationship with Colonel Quaritch, the father, is unfounded. He witnesses all the way how the colonel bullied the Na'vi with violence and killed Tulkun cruelly. From the beginning to the end, there is no plot showing that Spider has any appreciation for the colonel. Similarly, the colonel does not show any kindness to the son Spider, either. At the end of the hostage exchange, the colonel agrees straight away, and then Spider saves the people. How do the two characters transform?

5. In the final battle, the water tribes of reef people disappeared mysteriously.
For the reef people who have been foreshadowed for so long, I thought that when they arrive at the sea, they will have the advantage of being at home and can fight with the colonel's troops. Unexpectedly, all of them disappear at critical moments. Exactly! The colonel is defeated by Jake and his family. In the end, Jake is almost drowned, and his daughter saves him. As for the local people, they are only seen rushing forward, and then all of them disappear.

By the way, the way characters are reborn in movies is also weird. In the first few minutes of the film, They clone the Colonel in an avatar form and he has a human son also on the planet, and Sigourney Weaver has a daughter, even though she is dead. Is there anyone out there that liked this beginning?
In my opinions,The story is forced, environmental, devoid of any creativity, filled with logic leaps, and deep plot holes. This truly feels like a sports car that is trying to take off without an engine.
I can't understand how Cameron spent ten years creating such a flawed story.James does have a reputation for being intense, but does anyone in his circle have the courage to be like, "Hey , this just doesn't work here..."
