Rating B|My Personal feelings about Close

It was a coincidence to watch Close at the Cannes Film Festival.

After watching many complex films, I inevitably fell into exhaustion. At this time, the poster of "Close" really made me feel warm. So I decided to learn about how two boys' struggle between friendship and love.

Here are some personal feelings about "Close".

The Poster of "Close"

"Close" starts with an ambiguous story between two boys. This film won the jury award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival and was highly praised by many medias. The two boys have the closest friendship, but are forced to face the emotional changes they could not digest.

I've noticed that its frame is narrower than normal, which creates more "close" space for protagonist. The close-up shots could also allow you to immerse yourself in this emotion.

Lucas, the director, mentioned at the press conference that he would let the children get along naturally and observe the chemical reaction before shooting. Therefore, the relationship in the movie is basically based on the real thing, which naturally feels more touching.

The movie makes me feel simple, it makes it clear to me with its over-saturated colors and brisk pace that it takes us back to all the goodness of the past.

In the film, two boys are at their best age, their actions are instinctive then you can read the sincerity in it. When Leo rubs his head on his friend, he looks naughty and cute.

When you ask a kid whether he or she like someone, maybe the emotion of "love" is too complicated for them. When they "love someone ", the only thing they can do is to each other vigorously.

When they accidentally hurt someone, it may take a long time to react. This is also the most cruel part of their relationship with others.

When watching "Close", there were three teenagers sit on the stairs. The girl wanted to go to the bathroom halfway, and she looked at the boy next to her. They both bent their bodies and ran out of the cinema very playfully. Like the boy running in the flower field in the movie, they have a kind of youthful lightness.

At the end, the girl cried. The boy hugged the girl naturally, and the girl laughed again when she saw the boy. This off-screen scene perfectly links with the emotions in the movie, and that emotion touches the heart, as well.

After watching the movie, I walked out of the theater and soon came the news that "Close" won the award. And I feel from the bottom of my heart that such a wonderful film deserves it.

"Close" won the award

I don't think "Close" tries to define any kind of feelings, nor does it care whether they have reconciled with themselves. Perhaps the process of struggling with ourselves is what the author wants to express.

It is shiny and fragile like a diamond. Please, cherish the moment, cause these fragments will disappear in the long span of years.
