John lived in a world of assassins, every person he met could be a killer behind the ordinary appearance. Most assassins were mercenaries but had to take the orders from the High Table. John violated the code, and he was hunted as a result.
Some said that the plot of John Wick series was getting dull one after another. However, John Wick series were never made to deliver an indispensable story. The idea of its plot appreciated the style of less is more and to provide a delirious joy of violence in the name of fairness. “Someone has to pay” was the thesis, and execution was the body part. In fact, the film might be less exhilarating if it was heavy plotted.
Different from conventional action film, the setting of John Wick series did not present any police force or law enforcement. Gold, credits and debts were the things could be used to trade. The assassins that lived in John Wick setting, “lived by a code”. The code was something obscure to the audience but extremely clear to the characters. Throughout the film, John either had to follow the code or fight against the code depended on which side he chose, but either way he had to do it with violence. That was how John Wick could keep the audience on the edge of their seats—violence was excused with overwhelming aesthetics.
It was a pure action film, and a marvelous one that you can recommend to your friends without any spoilers. If you haven’t watched the previous series, it’s time to catch up. If you did, you can find the exiting trailer of Chapter 4, and let’s wait its release in anticipation.
