Beef: When East Asians Start Going Crazy Spoilers

The success of "Everything Everywhere All at Once" started the first year of "Asians Going Crazy" in Hollywood. This year, Netflix launched "Beef".

The story begins with road rage.

The heroine is a Chinese-Vietnamese mixed race, who started a green plant brand from scratch. She was not the kind of ambitious entrepreneur but wanted the brand bought by a supermarket to cash out a large sun of money and spend it with her children.

The male protagonist went to the supermarket to return the barbecue stove, which was the third time he bought and returned it. Because he planned to use this stove to commit suicide but did not make up his mind. On this return, he had to keep the oven because he could not find the shopping receipt.

The heroine went to the supermarket to discuss the acquisition, which did not go well.

These two people met on a narrow road in the parking lot out of the supermarket.

At first, it was a Longhorn warning, a provocation of the middle finger, and then it became a car chase game. The two started a journey of revenge against each other.

I can no longer tell whether the two are to excrete the dissatisfaction or to find some fun that is not available in daily life.

Many think it is like the Asian version of The White Lotus for Asians or the drama version of Everything Everywhere All at Once. Don't get it wrong. It's nothing about a comedy. On the contrary, when watching it, I often had to stop and take a break sometimes because of the oppressive feeling.

The most annoying question for creators is "Which parts in the story are true?" and "Is it your own experience?", which seems to shame them for poor creative ability.

But watching Beef, I actually feel like Ali Wong is explaining to the audience in detail: WHY WOMAN DIVORCE.

In her talk show, she joked that she tried her best to marry a handsome husband who graduated from Harvard Business School, but realized that instead of catching a rich and easy life, she had to pay for his Student Loans.

After giving birth, she started a new stand-up comedy show, saying that someone felt sorry for her husband and blamed her for consuming her husband. I have to say a woman with the identity of a comedian can not avoid such problems. And Amy's answer was more powerful. Being critical of themself is a must for almost any girl.

Because they hate themself so much, they hate the residual hysterical fragments inherited from their parents, and they hate themselves for having so many dark and evil thoughts. So they envy the so-called generous and skilled loving people who have not been whipped by life and parents.

Because they hate themselves so much, they want to live with someone completely different and give birth to a new child.

I can not drive so I don't understand road rage, but I can understand the feeling. You are surrounded by a bunch of buzzing shit every day. When you are only 0.1 centimeters away from the crash, life suddenly gives you another little that is small but crushes you. And then you think fucking the fuck!

It is like the recent thing that happened to me. When I was sick of work, I found that the nails I had just made cracked, and then the crack scratched my stockings.

After all these sucks, I argued with the nail salon for half an hour.

It is not right, but we need people around us to understand it.

Everyone can understand why East Asian women have such low self-esteem, because when they grow up, there always is a voice telling them that they are not cute, or right, and if they keep doing this, no one will love them.

Because there are problems in every step of your growing up, you do not know how to complain about who made you.

Regarding emotions, what East Asian women say the most are "stability" and "emotional value". The words look so new, but the core is old. Doesn't it mean you have to hold back your emotions?

Nowadays, there are so many "hollow people" who have stable emotions.

They deny all emotions and only care about their decency.

What is sad is that the so-called order is a fence built by those "hollow men". If the "living people" want to pass through it, they have to stab to bleed or even die. In the end, they may be made into a specimen to warn the next generation not to break the rules.

At the end of Beef, the two lead roles brought each other into a desperate situation through continuous fighting. Their family and love were all torn apart, leaving only two people with different identities and classes comforting each other in the wilderness.

"You, poor thing."

That's enough. No reconciliation, no love and hugs to ease everything. Let shit go on the shit.

The drama isn't perfect, but I like it more than Everything Everywhere All at Once. The latter's mother and daughter traveled through countless parallel universes, and in the end, they still had to reconcile and melt everything with "love".

But the problem with Asians is not love but the closest relatives.

Perhaps what East Asian women need most is neither career nor love but going crazy for a while.
