In the previous article, I listed the top 10 most popular action stars globally. Someone raised the question, "Why aren't there any women included?". I apologize for this oversight. Here’s a personal list of the best female action stars working today.
I’m taking into account the amount of “proper” action films they’ve been in, how good those films are, and the individual performances of the actress in the film.
However, this is just my personal opinion. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
10.Rebecca Ferguson
Key Film: Mission: Impossible
Rebecca Ferguson is an incredibly athletic and expressive actress. In the movie "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," this Swedish-born actress stood up to Tom Cruise, delivering powerful and authentic performances.

She fights a space alien in “Life,” and costars with Michael Fassbender in “The Snowman.”
From her appearance to her skills, from her demeanor to her dressing, she can be considered perfect in many movies.
9. Lucy Liu
Key Films: Kill Bill, The Man With The Iron Fists
Lucy Liu has skillfully balanced roles of both a sophisticated persona and entertaining performances in numerous action films.

One of her most notable high-profile roles is undoubtedly in "Charlie's Angels," a uniquely brilliant yet unpolished manifestation of director McG's vision that, for some inexplicable reason, received criticism from certain reviewers. Additionally, she played a suitable counterpart to Jackie Chan in "Shanghai Noon," portrayed a captivating villainess in "Payback," assumed the role of a Yakuza boss in "Kill Bill," and showcased her fighting prowess as a formidable Madam in RZA's underappreciated tribute to the Shaw Brothers, "The Man With The Iron Fists."
8. Charlize Theron.
Key Films: Mad Max: Fury Road
Every character played by Charlize Theron is so angular and has outstanding personality.
She has made remarkable progress since her role in "Aeon Flux," steadily establishing herself as an action star until she delivered a commanding performance as the one-armed Imperator Furiosa, overpowering even Tom Hardy, in "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Under the guidance of stunt coordinator and "John Wick" director David Leitch, she pushed herself to master martial arts, kickfighting, and gun stunts for "Atomic Blonde." In the film, she executes breathtaking hand-to-hand combat sequences (in long takes).
7. Zoe Saldana
Key Films: Colombiana, The Losers
You can determine a true action star by observing their ability to excel in films with just a machine gun, a modest budget, and a compelling yet straightforward plot, without relying on excessive CGI, or extravagant costumes.

Zoe Saldana proves her prowess in this regard through her performances in "The Losers" and "Colombiana." While she shines in big franchise movies like "Star Trek" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," it is her ability to captivate audiences with minimal resources that sets her apart from actresses like Beckinsale and Jovovich. Saldana's talent extends beyond these films as well, as she not only starred in James Cameron's "Avatar" but also reprised her role for multiple sequels and joined the Marvel franchise in "Guardians of the Galaxy."
6.Gal Gadot
Key Films:Wonder Woman
We don’t know why Warner Bros. has selected Gal Gadot ,an Israeli military veteran and former Miss Israel winner to portray the iconic character of Wonder Woman in DC Comics' film adaptation. But obviously, this is a wise choice. DC and Gal Gadot have achieved each other, and now she is the incarnation of Wonder Woman.

In addition to her iconic role as Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot has left a lasting impression with her exceptional performances in blockbuster movies such as "Fast & Furious," "Fast Five," and "Fast & Furious 6." Her talent and dedication have consistently captivated audiences and solidified her status as a highly accomplished actress.
5.Michelle Rodriguez
Key Films:Resident Evil、Fast and Furious
This resilient yet relatable action star first gained recognition in Karyn Kusama's "Girl Fight," where she showcased her fighting skills. She then brought a powerful female presence to the "Fast and Furious" franchise, donning both strength and vulnerability. Her talents extended to James Cameron's "Avatar," where she portrayed a skilled pilot in military attire.

In addition to her notable film roles, she also made an impact on television, appearing in popular shows such as "Lost," "S.W.A.T.," and "Battle: L.A." Her collaboration with James Cameron continued with the highly anticipated "Alita: Battle Angel."
4.Milla Jovovich
Key Films:Resident Evil
Described as the "most unforgettable woman in the world," with distinct facial features and emerald-like eyes, the roles portrayed by this actress have left a lasting impression on moviegoers. In the "Resident Evil" series, her agile movements, cool demeanor have made Alice an indelible character.

This enigmatic Ukrainian woman has become synonymous with the franchise, and it is through "Resident Evil" that Milla Jovovich resurrected her career and regained her former glory. Conversely, without Milla Jovovich, the series wouldn't have gained such popularity.
With her solitary nature and unique personality, Milla Jovovich embodies a toughness that distinguishes her in the world of Hollywood.
3. Michelle Yeoh
Key Films:Police Story 3, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Michelle Yeoh, a Malaysian-born martial arts star with ballet training, has managed to outshine even Jackie Chan himself. In Police Story 3, she accomplished the incredible feat of jumping off a hill on a motorbike and landing on a moving train, despite having no prior experience riding a motorcycle.

Michelle Yeoh is an integral part of the golden age of Hong Kong action cinema, alongside the likes of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and John Woo. Her filmography is filled with remarkable classics, including Police Story 3, the fantasy adventure The Heroic Trio and its sequel, her collaboration with Cynthia Rothrock, Yuen Woo-ping's Tai Chi Master (also known as Twin Warriors) alongside Jet Li, Magnificent Warriors, and of course, the iconic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
2.Angelina Jolie
Key Films:Tomb Raider series
The iconic Tomb Raider series of films brought Angelina Jolie and the character of Lara Croft together, merging them into one entity. Clad in tight T-shirts and super-short shorts, Jolie effortlessly carried the weight of this adventure-filled movie, which even held the record for the most action scenes featuring a female lead in film history.

With the Tomb Raider series, Angelina Jolie carved her own path in the world of action cinema. Her portrayal of Lara Croft not only resonated with audiences but also inspired a new generation of female action heroes. The films' success further established Jolie's status as a leading lady capable of delivering thrilling and captivating performances in action-packed roles.
1.Scarlett Johansson
Key Films: The Avengers, Lucy
The gap between an action star and a regular Hollywood movie star is an interesting one. In the same way that you wouldn’t cast Steven Seagal in a period drama, just because someone’s a great actor it doesn’t mean they can carry an action film.

This is what’s made Scar-Jo’s recent career turn so fascinating. In The Avengers she was the one that didn’t have a cool costume or back-story. She was just a Russian spy, but somehow she managed to convey that she could take any of the team out. Her portrayal of Black Widow and her ability to captivate audiences in diverse roles have solidified her status as a star.
