We barely blinked, and the year has already reached its halfway point, and we have already started warming up for what's to come in theaters in the upcoming months until December. One of the genres that always catches the attention of movie enthusiasts, due to its true legion of fans and followers, is horror. And here it's no different, as this page was born out of a passion for the most terrifying genre of all.
With that in mind, we have decided to join in and now unveil our list of the 10 most anticipated horror movies for 2023.
05 | Dracula: The Demeter's Last Voyage
Not only will the legendary Dracula be portrayed in a comedic version with Nicolas Cage in 2023, but fans of the greatest vampire of all time will also have two high-concept horror movies to enjoy this year. In addition to Cage's portrayal, Dracula will receive a more serious and terrifying adaptation with this Last Voyage of the Demeter, which is one of the films we are most excited about. The story is taken from a single chapter of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, which the cinema has largely overlooked. It follows the journey on a Russian ship that the count hired to take him from the Carpathian Mountains to London, where he feeds on the entire crew.
04 | Insidious 5
Insidious is another well-known horror franchise among fans of the new generation. The first two movies were helmed by a highly acclaimed duo in the genre: director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell - with the latter taking full control as director in the third film. This fifth installment marks the directorial debut of Patrick Wilson and brings back the Lambert family - with Wilson also reprising his role and Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins returning to the cast.
03 | Saw 10
The torture films that spawned a subgenre focused on real cuts and lacerations made their mark in the 2000s. The so-called "final" episode, just like in Friday the 13th, wasn't truly the last one and was released in 2010 - after six movies. Seven years later, Saw: Jigsaw was released, followed by Spiral: From the Book of Saw in 2021, both attempts to reboot the franchise that didn't quite succeed. Now, the tenth film aims to do just that. And the "ace up its sleeve" is the return of the psychopath John Kramer (Tobin Bell).
02 | The Exorcist: Believer
We are a bit apprehensive about this reboot/sequel of the absolute classic The Exorcist (1973). On one hand, this "sequel" brings back the actress from the original, Ellen Burstyn, reprising her role as the mother of the possessed girl. On the other hand, it is directed by David Gordon Green, the filmmaker responsible for the new Halloween trilogy, which divided fans quite a bit, to say the least.

Filmmaker Ti West surprised cinephiles with the sensational 'X - The Death Mark' and its follow-up 'Pearl.' In 2023, he will release the conclusion of his horror trilogy starring Mia Goth for A24.
The plot of 'MaXXXine' follows Maxine (Goth) after the events of 'X - The Death Mark,' continuing her journey toward fame in 1980s Los Angeles. She is the sole survivor of a failed adult film shoot, in which the cast and crew must fight for their lives after their elderly hosts discover what is truly happening.
