Civil War: feelings mixed. 

My feelings about this film are a bit mixed.

Let's start with the positives, which definitely include the sound editing and design. Garland and the team really amplify the impact of the gunshots and explosions to the extent that you can feel them reverberate in your chest. Additionally, the performances across the board are simply outstanding. It's a delight to see Dunst back on the screen as a commanding lead, Moura's talent deserves to be showcased more widely, Spaeny continues to impress and will undoubtedly shine in future projects, and the inclusion of McKinley Henderson in a Garland film is something to be celebrated. And of course, Plemons manages to steal the show in just 10 minutes of screen time.

The criticisms I've encountered about this movie don't resonate with my own feelings at all. Contrary to what some have said, the film is not nearly as apolitical as it's made out to be. There's a clear political undercurrent, particularly in the portrayal of the president.

While my appreciation for Civil War has grown over time, certain narrative choices in the third act leave me questioning their purpose. Overall, I did enjoy the film and I acknowledge its message, but I couldn't help but wish for a little more depth.
