Final Destination Bloodlines it‘s a different entry in the franchise, it‘s the first time in 6 movies, that doesn‘t involve a unnecesary s*x scene and nudity, the first that the technical aspects are really good, and the first where you care about the characters survival.

That‘s has been long overdue. For over the years, the franchise has used the same formula: a high school teenager, someone who has a couple of friends, and this time it changed the tone entirely. Bloodlines changed the game for the better good. It actually feels like the kills are there for a reason, there‘s an actual storyline so compelling and interesting and the characters feel grounded and real. There‘s emotional core to it and stakes. In the previous movies, you didn‘t even have anything, outside creative kills, but here it ties everything together to do a proper send off.
The movie explores the design of Death, going back to the 60s to a skyline crash that never happened. They use themes like generational trauma, suicide and even family issues. Instead of showing us random killings for teenagers, we actually see characters struggling with backstories that have a purpose. You don‘t root them to die, you actually cared to see them win. That‘s something has been changed in the franchise and honestly, that‘s a good thing.

Also, this is the first time in years, that the movie has good cinematography. Everything that the franchise had struggles with, here it‘s like they presented how a horror slasher movie should look like. There‘s a good sense of editing, lightning and even the performances are honestly, different. There‘s dread, mystery and even tension between the deaths, that doesn‘t overlap like in the previous movies. That one character died and then, they go to the next one. Here, you feel the death of that character and the storyline feels it too.
This movie wouldn‘t be as good as it was if not showing the actual purpose of William Bludworth‘s character and the send off to both of his character and the actor Tony Todd, and the last dialogue that he gave, it was improvised by him. The action that the directors told him it was “Talk to your fans, as this was the last time you see them“. It‘s poetic and beautiful.
This is all leads to my initial argument: this movie closed so many storylines into one, answered questions that were long overdue and gave an ending. The franchise finally found his purpose, it matured and gave us absolute cinema in every way possible.

Obviously, they could do another movie. But it will feel the same? I don‘t think so, this movie feels like the end of the road and ties everything together, if they continue…. they need to do a reboot or having Kimberly from Final Destination 2 to follow on Bludworth‘s footsteps and be the new “guide“.
