The film is a kind of continuation of the film "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession". The events take place on New Year's Eve 1997-1998, 24 years after the events of the film. Professor Tidewater tours Ireland with his two daughters to investigate the origins of ghost stories. After Betty convinced Sakes to let the snake bite her also, the couple, as ghosts, took their honeymoon in a phantom automobile to India and Egypt, and returned to haunt the castle as happy lovers. Sakes shows the scoffing professor the room where the lovers died. He sees them leave their auto and chase the ghost of the recently deceased Claven. Afterwards, Tidewater and his daughters are convinced that Sakes mesmerized him.
