Biography

Canadian Comedy Award nominee Michael Hughes was born and raised in "The Beach" community of Toronto. After several years of begging his parents to help him find an agent, Hughes made his professional stage debut at age 9. His television series debut came the following year when he guest-starred on the short-lived Boogie's Diner alongside James Marsden, Zack Ward, and Jim J. Bullock. Michael's New York City Bistro Award-winning one-person show, Mickey & Judy, was critically acclaimed and toured across Canada and to London, Edinburgh, and New York City. Additionally, for his work on stage, Hughes has been nominated for the Dora Mavor Moore Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Tony Award) and the Betty Mitchell Award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. As a singer, Michael has performed on tour with David Foster & Friends, and his self-titled album was nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award (TIMA) for Best Adult Contemporary Album.
