John Askew

John was born in Swinton, Sheffield, UK. He played football at Academy level until he was 16. He attending Wath Comprehensive School, and whilst there appeared in Shameless for Channel 4, Spooks Liberty for BBC and The Street for ITV. He studied Law at the University of York and in his third year was cast in the rep season at York Theatre Royal. After graduating from York Law School, he trained as an actor at Arts Educational Schools, London (ArtsEd), on full scholarship. Since graduating in 2013 his work on stage includes national and international tours, as well as West End, working with Kate Wasserberg at Out of Joint, David Thacker at Bolton Octagon, Jack McNamara at Nottingham Playhouse, and most recently Chris Lawson. His TV work includes The Rook for Starz/Lionsgate, playing opposite Gina McKee, Flack for Amazon Prime with Anna Paquin, The English Game by Julian Fellowes for Netflix, and Doctors for the BBC.
