Biography

Marene van Holk was born in the Netherlands but grew up in the United Kingdom. She trained as an actress at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and LAMDA in London. After graduating she started a career in Theatre, TV and film, notable credits including a lead in BBC Silent Witness, Tommy Cooper Not Like this, Like that, Divorce (Talpa Media). She worked a producer and actor on several short films including the Eye of the Vulture. She has been working in Iran in Farsi as an actress on and off since 2014, starring as a lead in The 9th Symphony. In 2021 she stars as a lead in the new series Gheble Alam. The Absent Director which she starred in and executive produced for her Tehran based production company Virgule will have its world premiere in 2021 (to be announced). Alongside TV and film, she works as a director, actor, creative producer and dramaturg in theatre internationally.
