Biography

James Andrew Fraser was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He is of Scottish, Irish and Flemish ancestry. His father Donald Andrew Fraser is a retired executive of a Canadian Grocery Chain; his mother Bernice Ina (nee VanDeKerckhove) is a nurse. His fascination with acting was sparked when a babysitter told him that Daniel Day-Lewis was "just pretending" in "My Left Foot". He had his first taste of "pretending" playing a chick in his Kindergarten class play. He continued acting in school productions but in high school he choose sports over the theatre as being an actor seemed like an impossible dream. However, he didn't stay away too long as James auditioned on a whim for a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and was cast as Demetrius. The following year he attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Once again he pushed his dream aside and played on the Rugby team but after he injured his shoulder for the second time he finally got involved with Theatre Antigo
