Alto Knights: The Rotten Cannoli of the Gangster Micro-Universe

Year 1990. While your nonna cooks fettuccine in a huge pot with the classic pomodoro sauce and stew, your mom asks you to grab the wine, fizzy water, sodas and put them on the table. The table has no cloth so you ask your grandpa where it is. Your dad is chopping garlic in small pieces for the sauce, and the dogs bark at the entrance. You step away because you understand the concentration needed for such a culinary task. Your grandpa glances at you while closely watching the Formula One race on

Civil Warfare: The Beautiful Bleakness of Alex Garland's Anti-War Duology

Let’s get this out of the way: Civil War was not the film people thought it was going to be. And Warfare? Maybe even less so. Warfare: Dancing in the Dark

What's the best way to portray war in cinema? Best way for our eyes, our conscience or what exactly?, I wonder after experiencing war horror once again. So, I propose another question then, but this one is for you. Here I go again: Why do you watch war movies? To raise awareness, be horrified or combine these two feelings? I could have asked this to myself, but I haven't found an answer yet, and I honestly don't know if there is one. Let's imagine an urban street as the symbolic representation o

'Shogun': It's Bloody, It's Cool

"Shogun," a recent sensation, paints a world that's both incredibly shadowy and bewitchingly brilliant. Each episode has a way of constantly reshaping my perspective of the world while simultaneously tickling my thrill-seeking side. Yes, the violence and gore can be a bit much at times, but I find myself irresistibly drawn in by the raw, heartfelt emotions radiating from its grand narrative. It's got me thinking that there's got to be some reasons that make these characters feel so incredibly li
