Biography

Doyle Brand was born in Dansville, New York and raised in Falconer and Cuba, New York. His father, Thomas, is a psychotherapist and his mother, Cynthia, is a painter and aesthetician. Fluent in Spanish, Brand lived in Buenavista del Norte (Tenerife, Spain) as an exchange student before graduating from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo. Before his acting career, Brand worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama (Central America). Brand is quirky, dark, intense, goofy, and guileless. He has played an eclectic mix of dramatic and comedic roles in films and on stage, including a zany artist (The Dreamer Examines His Pillow), an ex-soldier drug addict (Hatful of Rain), a bisexual father (The Crosses), a snobby college professor (Sunday at Home), a leading man (Always Us), a spoiled prima donna (PVT.
