Biography

Shay Dunphy studied acting at the Dublin Oscar Theatre School where he met his future wife, actress Fiona Dwyer. He studied film directing at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles where he co-directed the film "Suicide King." Shay is also a playwright and screenwriter. His plays include "The American Nightmare", "A Vagrant's Christmas in Venice", "Skid Row West", "The Coyote from Coolock", "A Pigsty up off Pico", "Death of an Actor", "The Strange life and death of Josephine O'Reilly" and "American Muscle" which was selected by Laurence Olivier winning playwright and Oscar nominee David Hare to be a finalist in the Yale Drama Series. Screenplays include "Brendan Behan" based on the life of the legendary Irish writer. Shay is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and The Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
