Biography

Catherine "Cat" Townsend is an American writer and private investigator. After beginning her career as a staff writer for New York magazine, Catherine moved to London to write a dating column for The Independent newspaper. As a freelance writer, her articles have appeared in publications including The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, Elle, New York, the Daily Mail, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, the New York Post, Cosmopolitan and The Huffington Post. Catherine is also the author of bestselling books Sleeping Around and Breaking the Rules. After completing 6000 hours of training, she became a licensed private investigator and opened The Townsend Detective Agency. In 2015, Catherine wrote the article 'Undercover with the Love Detective', in which she shared secrets of being a female private investigator, for The Daily Beast. Universal Cable Productions acquired her life-story rights with the goal of developing a TV series, which will be produced by RatPac Entertainment and Benderspink.
