Julien Hug

Julien was born in San Diego on February 4th, 1975, the son of Bertrand and Denise Hug, owners of two of San Diego's premier restaurants, Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe, Bertrand at Mister A's in San Diego, and Augusta Modern in Palm Desert, California. He was raised in both San Diego and in Montauban, France. He graduated from Torrey Pines High School in California with the Class of 1993. He was raised in the restaurant business. His father opened and operated several elegant eateries and always involved Julien. At the age of 14 Julien started as dishwasher and worked his way through every position to finally become Maître d' at Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe, a position he loved. He was the perfect host, charming, respectful and accommodating to guests. Tall, dark and handsome, he was often told he should be an actor or male model, but he preferred running the restaurant, looking after his patrons and didn't seem interested in a career in film.
