Biography

Patrice Evra is a former Manchester United, Juventus and France footballer who is heralded as one of the best full-backs of his generation. He was born on 15 May 1981 in Bakar, Senegal. He moved to the Île-de-France region of France when he was just a year old. During his youth he played for various clubs in the Parisian region before having a short stint in Italy with Marsala and Monza. After a year Evra returned to France to play for Nice and shortly after he moved to rivals, AS Monaco.Evra got his first taste of silverware by winning the Coupe de la Ligue in 2003.By 2004, he was Didier Deschamps' first choice left-back in a team which made the UEFA Champions League final. Evra was also awarded the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award and included in the division's Team of the Year.Having impressed in France, he made the switch to the Premier League to join Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United.
