Illya Owens is an editor who was born on October 13, 1976 as Illya Kirstie Quinteros to her El Salvadoran parents in Glendale California. She began her cartoon journey in 1997 as a scanner in the animatic department at Sony TV, where she was allowed to grow into a Lead Editor. Throughout the years She has been an editor at major animation studios such as Warner Bros ¡Mucha Lucha! (2002) Cartoon Network The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (2001) and Disney TVA where she took home 4 Annies for "Best Picture Editing on an Animated TV Series" for Disney Mickey Mouse (2013) Look for her work on Vivo (2021) an animated feature set to release 2021. Her schooling began when she was a child watching cartoons every day before and after school, usually with a bowl of cereal in her lap. In those years, she had no idea the research she was absorbing.
