Justin Hurwitz is an American composer and television writer whose work focuses on film scoring and songwriting. He began collaborating with director Damien Chazelle during their time at Harvard University, contributing to student films that evolved into professional projects. Hurwitz develops musical narratives across genres, combining orchestral and contemporary elements, and frequently works with songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. In addition to film, he has written for television comedy. Hurwitz has received multiple awards, including three Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, two Grammys, and a BAFTA for his work on La La Land, First Man, and Babylon.
