Biography

Lawrence Grobel's is the author of 30 books, including six books of conversations with Truman Capote, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James A. Michener, Robert Evans, and Ava Gardner. James Michener called his book The Hustons "a masterpiece." Joyce Carol Oates dubbed him "The Mozart of interviewers." He is the recipient of P.E.N. and Playboy Special Achievement awards, the Prix Litteraire from the French Syndicate of Film Critics, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for his fiction. He has appeared as himself in Shane Salerno's documentary Salinger and Al Pacino's Wilde Salome. His has published 4 of his (unproduced) screenplays-- adaptations of three of his novels and his interaction with Marlon Brando on Brando's island in Tahiti. His last 2 books are the short story collections: The Narcissist, and Schemers, Dreamers, Cheaters, Believers.
