Biography

Imani was raised in Baltimore, MD and entered into the world of the arts at the early age of nine. She was a visual artist, performed in theatre shows and played the flute. She quickly realized that acting was her number one passion. She auditioned and got a recurring role on HBO's, 'The Wire' Season 4. Imani then attended Baltimore School for the Arts for high school where she studied the craft of acting. It was during her junior year in high school where she wrote a one-act for her classmates to perform. Scriptwriting became a new love of hers, and she was interested in learning more about that art form. Imani attended the California Institute of the Arts, where she received a BFA in acting. She was directed by James Avery in 'The Colored Museum' and James Franco in 'A Streetcar Named Desire'. While there, she had an internship on HBO's,'Treme' in the Writers' Office.
