Biography

Daniel J Gerstle is a writer, filmmaker, musician, and humanitarian aid worker. He has appeared on BBC News Hour, Euronews, WNYC Soundcheck, CNN, Vice, Novo Vrijeme (Bosnia), SNTV (Somalia), and Horn Cable TV (Somalia), discussing his humanitarian aid work, refugee assistance projects, and documentary filmmaking in war zones. He has also written for Rolling Stone (Middle East and South Africa), The Guardian, The Atlantic, Vocativ, IRIN News, Change.org, and the Journal of International Affairs. While co-founding the Filmmakers' Forum of the East Bay in Berkeley, California, in 2001, Daniel began writing feature screenplays, including co-writing the fiction feature, Faith (directed and co-written by Lewis Morphew), and numerous other projects, as well as minor acting.
