Steven Kostanski

Steven Kostanski started work in practical effects and prosthetic makeup as a teenager under monster-maker mentorship, gaining experience in FX on low-budget horror and larger genre films. He co-founded the Astron-6 filmmaker collective, where he directed short films and later feature-length works. Kostanski alternates between roles behind the camera (direction, writing, producing) and hands-on FX work. His methods include building projects from horror-and-sci-fi roots, using practical effects and makeup early in production, and working with collaborators in FX shops and filmmaking teams.
