Biography

Alexander Voronstov was born on June 23, 1919 in Mstislavl, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (now Belarus) in a family of employees. Having entered the camera department of VGIK, he worked at the Mosfilm film studio as a mechanic for a film crew and an assistant cameraman. After graduating with honors in 1942, he worked for a short time as a cameraman at the Novosibirsk newsreel studio. After being drafted into the Red Army, he was assigned to a front-line film group. With combat units of the Soviet army, he traveled from Western Ukraine to Berlin. After the end of World War II, he worked at the Central Documentary Film Studio, first as a cameraman, then as a director. Alexander died on August 15, 1991.
