Biography

Mark Williams-Thomas is an investigative reporter and former police officer who is best known for posthumously exposing the broadcaster and charity fundraiser Sir Jimmy Savile as one of the UK's most prolific child molesters. His investigation in turn led to a sequence of events which brought to light the historic sex crimes of other broadcasters Stuart Hall and Rolf Harris and publicist Max Clifford, all of whom went on to be convicted and jailed. As a police officer since 1989, Williams-Thomas was a detective and family liaison officer. He launched the investigation into the child abuse of the music industry figure Jonathan King, leading to his successful conviction and imprisonment in 2001. As something of a renegade, Williams-Thomas would disclose information to the press if he considered such disclosures were in the public interest.
