Biography

Lukasz Zal is a Polish cinematographer born in 1981, an Oscar and BAFTA-nominee for IDA (dir. Pawel Pawlikowski) and a winner of the Golden Frog Award at Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography. Director of Photography of DOVLATOV (dir. Aleksiej German Jr.) nominated for the Golden Bear at 2018 Berlin International Film Festival and THE HERE AFTER (dir. Magnus von Horn), which premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Lukasz was a cinematographer of the Polish Oscar nominated documentary JOANNA (dir. Aneta Kopacz) and one of two cinematographers of an Oscar nominated animation LOVING VINCENT (dir. Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman). Most recently Lukasz was responsible for cinematography in COLD WAR (dir. Pawel Pawlikowski) nominated for Palme d'Or at 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Lukasz is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and European Film Academy.
