Biography

A bilingual, multi-faceted artist, Estella Gabriel's mother hails from Juarez, Mexico, while her father is of Scottish and English descent. Her acting credits include "Bones" on FOX, "Southland" on TNT, and others. As a screenwriter, Estella has written a feature film, GRINGAS, and two TV pilots, AMERICANA and ORO. She has a distinct voice in her work, writing strong, complex, Latina female lead characters in powerful, controversial and relevant worlds. Estella draws from family hardships and experiences that have helped to shape her voice. Her TV pilot, AMERICANA, won the 2015 Showtime Tony Cox Award - TV 1 Hour and was a 2nd Rounder in the well-respected Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, achieved by only 10% of 8,600 entries. AMERICANA was also a quarter-finalist in the Slamdance Screenplay Competition, earning a spot in the top 25 for original teleplay.
