Biography

Joseph Andrew Hnilo was born in Fortuna, California and raised in Palo Alto, CA. He is the son of Joe and Sue Hnilo. Growing up, Andy played baseball, earning a full scholarship to attend UC Berkeley; before transferring to Sacramento State and then to Saint Mary's College where he earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communication. As a junior, he was one of a select few invited by the San Francisco Giants to work out at Pac Bell Park for the owner, general manager, and numerous scouts. In baseball, Andy represented Team California in high school, where he was ranked the #2 Outfielder/ #10 Player in Northern California and the #132 Player in the U.S.A. by Baseball America Magazine. Despite the absence of any formal acting training, Andy booked his first supporting role as a boxer in Adam Carolla's The Hammer (2007) before landing his first lead role in Young American Dream (2013).
