Biography

Markita Prescott was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to International photojournalist Margot Jordan and Trinidadian recording artist, Keith "Designer" Prescott. As a child Markita worked on numerous jingles, voice-overs, and television commercials. Her stage debut was Off-Broadway at the UBU Repertory Theater as, "Nesilili," in The Orphanage directed by Françoise Kourilsky (alongside actor Chad L. Coleman.) Growing up, she attended the renowned Professional Performing Arts School majoring in Musical Theater; Joining the likes of Alicia Keys who was a senior at the time. She attended Martin Luther High School, participating in numerous extra-curricular activities including Track & Field, and participated on the basketball, field hockey, & soccer intramural teams. Soon after, she attended Nyack College graduating with her B.S. in Communications and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts with her M.F.A. in Acting.
