Biography

Michigan native Peter Hanson studied film production as an undergraduate at NYU and earned his MFA in screenwriting at UCLA. An experienced writer, filmmaker, and teacher, Hanson is the director of films including the acclaimed screenwriting documentary "Tales from the Script," and the writer of the books "Dalton Trumbo, Hollywood Rebel" (a finalist for the Theatre Library Association Award), "The Cinema of Generation X," and "Tales from the Script: 50 Hollywood Screenwriters Share Their Stories." He has written over 1,700 nonfiction articles for print and online outlets, earning a Yahoo! Contributor Award, and his book on Dalton Trumbo was republished, as a translated edition, in Japan. Hanson has lectured and moderated at numerous colleges and film festivals, appeared as a commentator in documentary films and TV shows, and taught screenwriting classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
