Biography

Graduated from St. Anthony's High School Seminary in San Antonio, Texas, a Catholic boarding school with a mission to train young men for the priesthood. Instead, it propelled John McLean into a lifetime of creativity and debauchery, both honed to a fine point at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in literature and languages. After several years in Los Angeles, where he worked for a time in development and casting for Roger Corman's Concorde Pictures, and was the Assistant Editor on Curfew (1989), the directorial debut of 'Gary Winik', John McLean moved back to Austin, Texas, where he continues to live. He has a daughter, Oona, and a son, Francis, by his former wife, Amy Evers. He spent four years at Origin, the renowned computer game company, as an Associate Producer on the 'Wing Commander' games.
