Michael Arbuthnot

Biography

Michael Arbuthnot is one of the most accomplished archaeologists in non-fiction television, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. He is Vice President of SEARCH (searchinc.com), the largest contract archaeology company in the United States, and President of Stones X Bones Productions. He has worked as a professional archaeologist for two decades across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Southwest, and West Coast of the United States and in Canada, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. His research specialties include submerged pre-contact archaeology, Southeastern prehistory, and television and video media production. Mike joined James Cameron's RMS Titanic expedition in 2005 for the Last Mysteries of the Titanic (Discovery Channel); he has hosted his own television series, Secret Worlds with Michael Arbuthnot (Travel Channel and PBS), FOUND (History Channel), and America's Lost Vikings (Discovery Science). Mike earned his master's degree from Florida State University in 2002 and his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1996. In addition to his on-camera work, Mike supports television production companies and networks by providing access, talent, production and consulting services. Mike descended 2.5 miles to explore RMS Titanic seven times, documenting the Turkish Baths and the Strauss Suite, and also enjoys snorkeling.
