Andre King

Andre John Otane King was born on 6 November 1972 in Tokoroa, New Zealand to Rupert & Barbara King. He has one brother (Nick King) His father was prominent in the Country and Western scene and encouraged him to sing, he started performing country songs aged five and became an accomplished yodeler. He continued singing through high school performing as a soloist in his school choir and festivals with the Hamilton Operatic Society. After leaving school, Andre worked in a number of different vocations including a prize fighter, NZ Army (RNZInfantry) then investigations and security work. In 2000, having been medically discharged from the military and dissatisfied with his previous careers, Andre embarked upon a career within the Arts. Andre had performed as a magician for his own children, but wanted to branch out into more adult oriented events and so started performing stand up comedy as a method of improving his patter.
