John Dove

John Dove grew up in Smithtown Long Island, the 2nd of five brothers in a large, close knit, Italian family. Writing for television is John's second career. After completing a 2 year Associates Degree at a local community college studying journalism, he joined the ranks of the New York City Police Department in 1982 where he served for 21 years retiring at the rank of Detective Lieutenant. John spent time in the K-9 Unit as both as a handler and trainer, the plain clothes task force tackling street crime, the robbery squad as a Detective Sergeant. He worked in the Police Commissioner's Special Investigations Unit under Commissioner Bratton. He spent two year in Internal Affairs as a Detective Lieutenant before Commanding the Brooklyn Cold Case Homicide Squad. In the aftermath on the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001, as a Detective Lieutenant in the NYPD Intelligence Division, John supervised a squad working in a joint FBI Task Force tracking down terrorist leads.
