Biography

James Fulton Hoge Jr. was born in 1935. He's the second of four siblings born to parents James F. Hoge Sr. and Virginia McClamroch Hoge. Following graduation from Yale University in 1958, Hoge began his career as a journalist as a Washington correspondent for The Chicago Sun-Times. James went on to serve as editor in chief and publisher for this particular newspaper. However, Hoge left The Chicago Sun-Times in 1984 and was appointed president and publisher of The New York Daily News. During his stint at The Chicago Sun-Times the paper won six Pulitzer Prizes while the Daily News won one Pulitzer while he was president. James was awarded a fellowship at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1991.
