Biography

Arturo Portillo was born in Aurora, Illinois in 1979 and wrote his first story when he was in third grade, winning an award for best children's fable at his elementary school. That was the day that got him on his way to pursuing a career in the film industry. It wasn't until 1991 in English class, where he got the idea to write his first feature film script. His teacher told a story about a trip to the tip of the Bermuda Triangle, and from that point on, he learned all he could about screenwriting so he can get that story (When Darkness Falls) written. In 1997, he attended New Mexico State University, where he majored in TV News Production and Journalism. He learned a variety of production skills that would help him land a video editing and videographer job at his local TV station in 2002 and worked a many short films and feature films as an actor, stand-in and body double.
