Biography

Martín Solá was born in Manhattan Hospital in New York City. His parents, both natives of Puerto Rico and graduates of the University of Puerto Rico met for the first time in the Bronx. His father was a former US Army Officer and an electrical engineer, and his mother had begun her career as a nutritionist and dietitian after completing her master's degree at Columbia University. The family moved to center-city Philadelphia where Martín attended the Girard Academic Music Program, under director Jack Carr, for elementary school and he began his musical life studying violin, music theory, and singing in the choir. His family moved to Florida for his high school years where he became involved in sports, most notably track and wrestling. He graduated from Florida University with a Bachelor of Music Degree, and The University of Illinois with a Master of Music Degree, on music and academic scholarships. A veteran of the stage, Martín was nominated for Best Actor in a Play by BroadwayWorld
