Biography

The more time you spend with a character, the more you can understand their complexity.” Sebastian Stan is a notable American actor renowned for his role as James Buchanan ("Bucky") Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stan began his acting career with a small role in the 1994 film 71 Fragmente einer Chronologie des Zufalls. He studied theatre at Rutgers University and graduated in 2005. Stan's career took off with a recurring role in Gossip Girl (2007–12) and continued with various television and film roles. His breakthrough came in 2011 with his portrayal of Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger, leading to further appearances in Marvel films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Ant-Man (2015), and Avengers films. He also voiced characters in Marvel video games and animated series. Aside from Marvel, Stan starred in The Martian (2015), I, Tonya (2017), and gained acclaim for his portrayal of Tommy Lee in Pam & Tommy (2022), earning nominations for an Emmy, Critics’ Choice Award, and Golden Globe.
