Biography

Mark Alkofer was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Yakima. He won 2 art contests in elementary school, one of which awarded a free birthday party at McDonald's. He played high school and college football. His lone theatrical role in high school was as the voice of President George H.W. Bush during the morning announcements. A German exchange teacher introduced him to distant relatives in Bavaria, which inspired him to study the language in college. He would go on to work as a translator at a Seattle software company. While translating part time, he helped coach American actors with their German accents. He was a prop maker for Seattle's Fringe Theater Festival's "Curious George" send up, "Curious Who?", and studied animation at the Art Institute of Seattle. His first job in Los Angeles was as a 4th grade teacher, which led to studio teaching, his current career. While not on set as a teacher, he writes, draws, and does the voices for his own animated cartoon series The Gott
