Biography

Sandra Sanchez, a Capitol Hill native, developed an affinity for performing when she began ballet classes at the age of 3. Over the next 14 years, she trained at such prestigious academies such as the Washington School of Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet School, and the Chautauqua School of Dance. At the age of 17, Sandra moved to Los Angeles to attend The University of Southern California. A MENSA member and vegetarian since birth, she graduated with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from the Keck School of Medicine in 2002. While working at USC as a research assistant for a Type II Diabetes study, Sandra competed in her first scholarship pageant to help finance her graduate studies and was awarded the title of Miss Los Angeles 2003 in the Miss America preliminary. During this pageant she also took home awards for Best Talent, Best Swimsuit, and Rookie of the Year.
