Biography

Bruce "Spyder" Mittleman was born on July 23, 1953, in the USA. He was an actor known for Tales from the Crypt (1989), The Brave (1997), and Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984). Primarily a musician, Mittleman was an integral part of the seminal punk/rock scene in L.A. in the late '70s and early '80s. An accomplished sax player, he was both a sessions/studio player for Chuck E. Weiss (the "Chuck E." in Rickie Lee Jones' eponymous "Chuck E.'s In Love), Tom Waits, Darlene Love, and more, as well as a well-known and highly regarded soloist with a rabid personal following. His weekly Sunday gigs at a cafe in Venice Beach were consistently sold out, and he was regularly invited and welcomed on stage with local acts like the Dickies, the Untouchables, Black Flag, the Circle Jerks -- virtually any band playing the circuit of storied venues including The Whiskey, the Roxy, and Club Lingerie. He died in 2000 in the USA.
