Biography

Socorro Swan is a bilingual actress and dancer known for The Incredible Hulk (1977), The Rockford Files (1974) and Columbo (1971). She was also featured in the film Only Once in a Lifetime (1979). Socorro began her acting career in an uncredited role in the first bilingual soap opera on KCET in October 1968, "Canción de la Raza" ("Song of the People"). It was the first American television program dedicated entirely to the Latino community, and was underwritten by the Ford Foundation, a long supporter of public broadcasting. "Canción de la Raza" ran for a year, inviting viewers to call in or write with reactions to the drama or suggestions for future shows.
