Biography

Gloria Laino is a stage, film, and TV actress best known for her recurring role as "The Mexican," an insane asylum lunatic in the FX award-winning hit drama series "American Horror Story: Asylum," and as Baron's Familiar in the critically acclaimed TV series "What We Do in the Shadows." Her acting career began on the stage and leaped forward when a single line in a play seen by a director resulted in her being cast as a principal in a recurring role on a TV show. Fluent in Spanish and English growing up, she spent her young adult years in Jordan, where she also learned to speak Arabic. Gloria's cultural heritage and language abilities empower her creation of a rich spectrum of characters ranging from an Old World Vampire's Familiar to an Arabic-speaking Algerian mule-martyr to a sweet-tempered dementia patient to a nosy mother-in-law, and more. Also an accomplished screenwriter, she has many screenplays in various stages of development.
