Biography

Born in San Francisco, Steve Sturla's first foray into performing was as a standup at The Other Café in the Haight Ashbury. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he opened for the band WAR at Trancas in Malibu. Later, Sturla put together a sketch comedy group called "The Santa Ana Winds," which performed for two years at the Comedy Store, The Improv and HBO Workspace. It was directed by legendary actress Sheree North and featured such performers as Rockmond Dunbar, Warren Hall, Maria Russell, Kyle Gass (together with Jack Black, the other half of Tenacious D), Tanjareen Martin, Chantal Lashon and Donald E. Lacy. Sturla also booked guest star roles on "Days of our Lives" and "Santa Barbara." Sturla had recurring roles on The Attack of the Show, with Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira and performed with Paul Scheer of "The League." As a director, Sturla directed the pilot episode of "The Gary Carter Show," starring the Hall of Fame catcher, and the short film "The Secret Life of Rocky Perone." The film
