Biography

Sherri Howard was born in Sherman, Texas to Eugene and Barbara Howard and spent her formative years in Alaska. It was there that she won her first gold medal in the 200 meter run in the Arco Jesse Owens Games. After her father's transfer to Norton Air Force Base in California, she continued to break records and became the number one athlete in America in the 400 meter run while still in high school. Through the exceptional coaching skills of her father, Sherri and her sisters became known as "The Howard Sisters - the First Family of Track". Together they set seven national records in a three week period, which is something that has never been mastered by any high school track team, both girls and boys. Also throughout her track career, she has been a recipient of numerous awards and honors.
