Biography

James Takata is an American film and television director, writer, and cinematographer. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600. James was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. At the age of 12 he was inspired to become a filmmaker by Spike Lee's film Do The Right Thing. In high school he received a scholarship to the Ryman Program for Young Artists where he learned the fundamentals of classical drawing and painting. James' undergraduate studies took him to the Art Institute of Florence and the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where he earned a B.A. in Studio Art.
