John Rubin

John Rubin is executive producer at HHMI Tangled Bank Studios. Rubin, winner of a Peabody and four Emmys, turned to documentaries after completing his doctorate in cognitive science at MIT. He has produced, written and directed films for the flagship PBS series Nature, American Experience, and NOVA. At Tangled Bank, Rubin executive-produced The Farthest, a feature doc about the heroic Voyager space mission. A selection of the Tribeca Film Festival, the film won the 2018 Emmy for Outstanding Science and Technology documentary, the National Academies' Keck Communication Award, and the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism award. Before joining Tangled Bank, Rubin led Rubin Tarrant Productions and John Rubin Productions, where he made films for National Geographic Explorer and many other clients.
