Biography

Michael Straka was born in Newark, New Jersey. His mother is from Chile and his father is Hungarian from Newark, New Jersey. He began acting as a college student at Rutgers University and moved to New York City to study The Method with Bobby Lewis ("Advice To The Players") and Tony Greco of The Actor's Studio (also in Los Angeles), Meisner Technique with Richard Poole, classics and monologues with Donald Buka and William Woodman and commercials with Dovetail. Mike began his on-camera career at FOX News Channel, serving as a features and sports anchor in the summer of 1998. His assignments included live red carpet coverage of The Oscars, Golden Globes and Grammy's, 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, CMA's, The Ultimate Fighting Championships, Super Bowls, Country Music Awards, movie premieres and more. Straka also contributed to FNC's 9/11 coverage. Prior to joining FOX, Mike worked the assignment desk at CBS News, where he began his broadcast career as a page, ushering audiences
